RGAS APPROACH TO DESIGN
In our work, we promote the process of creating a projects design
beyond an unanimated preparation of plans and specifications for a building.
Creativity in its most basic form is not adequate. Our projects are simple
needs for shelter and a set of complex particular needs simultaneously.
We must keep both extremes in mind in every decision we make.
While one project calls for a response to a limited budget, another allows
for greater financial flexibility in solving the problem. In both, we must
always hold value and design integrity in mind. Those with unlimited budgets
deserve value. The rest of the world deserves spaces with well-conceived
solutions. High level designs are usually held out as expensive construction.
Our charge is often just the opposite.
Imagination is not enough. Pragmatism is not enough. Providing site responsive,
environmentally conscious designs falls a little short. Our professional
and social responsibilities go well beyond. We must solve for the comprehensive
set of concerns.
Our Clients challenges define our work. The association usually lasts
for years. We listen to the request to solve a problem not only at the initial
meeting but continue to listen and solve until the project is occupied.
Adherence to this approach is the way we plan our work, the way we check
ourselves in our work and is the way for us to differentiate our responsibilities
to our Clients from our own desires.
